VietNam Airlines, or its associate companies - Pacific Airlines and VASCO - have a
near-monopoly on domestic flights, which are relatively expensive. Residents and Foreigners now pay identical rates for
travel. |
|
Thanks to a new computerised booking system, buying a ticket is fairly painless, although
you will have to show your visa and/or passport. |
|
It's usually faster to buy a ticket from an airline office rather than a Travel Agent in
smaller centres. The departure tax on domestic flights is Dong15,000. |

Fares were differentiated - higher - for Foreigners and 2004 are shown below. The two
carriers Pacific Airlines and VietNam Airlines, unsurprisingly, have identical fare structures (Pacific Airlines being
owned - in part - by VietNam Airlines. |

In the tables below intermediate stops or flight changes are not shown. Please note that
VietNam Airlines has a somewhat cavalier attitude towards flight schedules and frequently if there insufficient
passengers for a flight they will cancel a flight - even trying to have the passenger pay a 'missed flight fee' on the
next flight. Fight the charge! |
