Description:

Tien Giang is located north of the Mekong Delta, adjacent to the Tien River. It is bordered on the north by Long An; on the south by Vinh Long and Ben Tre; on the east by Ho Chi Minh; on the west by Dong Thap.
 

More than 70% of villages are on the electric grid.

Transport:

My Tho is 72 kilometres south of Ho Chi Minh City/SaiGon; 70 kilometres northeast of Vinh Long; 103 kilometres northeast of Can Tho; 182 kilometres northeast of Rach Gia; 272 kilometres west of Ha Tien; 179 kilometres southeast of Chau Doc. There are scheduled bus and ferry services.

Transport - land
My Tho Bus Station is on Ap Bac Street, some 3 to 4 kilometres from the downtown - reached by going west on Ap Bac to National Highway 1, and is served by local buses from Mien Tay Bus Station in Ho Chi Minh City/SaiGon. These connect with Ca Mau, Chau Doc, Can Tho, Tay Ninh, Vinh Long and other destinations in the Mekong Delta.

Transport - water
High-speed daily 'flying-fish' hydrofoil service from the docks at the foot of Ham Nghi in Ho Chi Minh City/SaiGon - a trip time of about 1.5 hours which then continues to Can Tho a further 30 minutes away.

 
Ferry service from Ben Pha Rach Mieu Terminal at 2/10A Le Thi Hong Gam which is the extension of 30 April Street, to Ben Tre; the  My Thuan Terminal ferry serves Vinh Long.
 
Boat tours on the Mekong River is a highlight of a visit to My Tho. Phung, Tan Long and Thoi Son Islands are all regularly visited by tourist boats. Sources for tickets include Chuong Duong Tourist, Cong Doan Tourist and Tien Giang Tourist located along 30 Thang 4 Street. All offer boat trips to the islands at reasonable prices.
