Description:
Bac Lieu Province is located on
the southeast of the Mekong River Delta. It is bordered on the north by Kien
Giang and Can Tho; on the northeast by Soc Trang; on the southeast by the South
China Sea coastline; on the southwest by Ca Mau.
Straddling the National
Route 1, Bac Lieu has good land and water transportation, which augers well for
developing agriculture, aqua-culture, food and
foodstuff processing, garments and ship building industries.

Transport:
Bac Lieu City is 280 kilometres
south of Ho Chi Minh City/SaiGon; 113 kilometres south of Can Tho; 67 kilometres
northeast of Ca Mau; 50 kilometres southwest of Soc Trang. It is has only road
transport.

There are local and long distance bus services passing through Bac Lieu City in
all directions. Bus services depart Ho Chi Minh City/SaiGon's Mien Tay Bus
Station, 10 kilometres west on Hung Vuong Boulevard in An Lac, trip time in 6
hours.

Description:
An Giang Province is on the
western extre e of the Mekong Delta bordered by Dong Thap on the northwest; Can
Tho on the southeast; Kien Giang on the southwest and 95 kilometre long border
with Cambodia on the northwest. An Giang Province is defined by the Tien Giang
and Hau Giang Rivers adjacent to the Cuu Long River. Geographically it has a few
low mountains and lowland areas.

Long Xuyen, the capital of An Giang
Province, is 190 kilometres southwest of Ho Chi Minh; 126 kilometres east of My
Tho; 62 kilometres northwest of Can Tho. It is serviced by road and water
services.
Air
Long Xuyen Airport (XLO) does not have scheduled services.
Road
Long Xuyen Bus Station, 96/3B Tran Hung Dao Road, has scheduled services with Ca
Mau, Can Tho, Chau Doc, Ho Chi Minh City/SaiGon, Rach Gia, and other Mekong Delta
destinations .
Water
The ferry dock is on Pham Hong Thai Street (over the Duy Tan Bridge, with ferry
services for Cho Vam, Dong Tien, Hong Ngu, Kien Long, Lai Vung, Rach Gia (9
hours), Sa Dec (4 hours) and Tan Chau.
An Hoa Ferry Terminal services Cao Lanh and Sa Dec. (Please carry/wear your own
life jacket and tie a long rope on your backpack with a float - for a marker).
If, in your opinion, the boat is too crowded, do not risk your safety -
patience pays off!
Chau Doc, An Giang's second city, is 245 kilometres southwest of Ho Chi
Minh City/SaiGon; 179 kilometres east of My Tho; 117 kilometres northwest of Can
Tho; 96 kilometres northeast of Ha Tien.
Road
Chau Doc Bus Station is southwest of downtown Chau Doc on Le Loi Street (in the
Long Xuyen direction) wih scheduled services for Ca Mau, Can Tho, Ha Tien, Long
Xuyen (1.5 hours), Ho Chi Minh City/SaiGon (6-7 hours - Mien Tay station), Soc
Trang and Tra Vinh.
The Chau Doc/Ha Tien road link is somewhat tenuous and indirect commencing with
a decent road that changes to a track at Tinh Bien - which is a citizens only
border crossing point. Foreigners have to transit the border at Moc Bai where
there are proper immigration facilities including on-line computer links. The
track from Tinh Bien passes through a few small villages before reaching Ha Tien.
This journey is NOT for travel outside daylight hours.
Water
Local boats (crowded) ply the canals linking Chau Doc and Ha Tien daily with a
trip time of some 10 hours for the 95 kilometre journey. It is an interesting
way of meeting the local people, whose interest in you is likely greater. Pack
food! The cargo/ferry boat departs at 04.00H, arriving around 17.00H, traffic
determined. Foreigner charges are USD$5.00.

Natural beauty sights:
Ba Den Mountain (2) is located 10 kilometres northeast of Tay Ninh city, 106
kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City/SaiGon. It is a beautiful historical and
site covering an area of more than 24 square kilometres.
Ba Den Mountain is also called Black Lady Mountain. According to legends,
beautiful Ly Thi Thien Huong, Black Lady, was forced to marry the son of a rich
mandarin while her true love was fighting the aggressors. Rather than marrying a
man she did not love, she threw herself from the mountain.
Several shrines and pagodas were built in the mountain as well as in the caves.
Ba and Hang Pagodas attract many pilgrims during the New Lunar Year and Vu Lan
Festivals.
Ba Den Mountain was where the headquarters of the liberation force of South
Vietnam were located. During war time, many tough battles were fought in that
area.
Dau Tieng Lake (1) is located on the way to Tay Ninh, Cao Dai
Great Temple, and Ba Den Mountain, 20 kilometres from Tay Ninh city.
The lake covers 27,000 hectares and has a water reserve of 1.5-billion square
metres, irrigating Tay Ninh province as well as neighbouring provinces.
Dau Tieng Lake’s beautiful landscape of mountains, its mysterious islets, and
its fresh and pure atmosphere shall give visitors an agreeable feeling. Visitors
shall also appreciate the food specialities of the locality.
The province is
the habitat of several valuable species of animals and insects.
Historic sights:
Cao Dai Great Temple (3) is the cathedral of the Cao Dai religion and is
the main attraction in Tay Ninh. The temple, built between 1933 and 1955, is
located more specifically in Long Hoa, 5-km southeast of Tay Ninh.
The Great Temple is 140 metres long and 40 metres wide. It has 4 towers each
with a different name: Tam Dai, Hiep Thien Dai, Cuu Trung Dai, and Bat Quai Dai.
The interior of the temple consists of a colonnaded hall and a sanctuary. The 2
rows of columns are decorated with dragons and are coated in white, red, and
blue paint. The domed ceiling is divided into 9 parts similar to a night sky
full of stars and symbolizing heaven.
Under the dome is a giant star-speckled blue globe on which is painted the
Divine Eye, the official symbol of Caodaism. Cao Dai followers worship Jesus
Christ, Confucius, Laotze, and Buddha.

Tay Ninh is 64 kilometres from Cu Chi, 96 kilometres to the north-west of Ho Chi Minh City/SaiGon.

City/SaiGon.
