The Chau Doc/Ha Tien road link is somewhat tenuous and indirect commencing with a decent road that changes to a track at Tinh Bien - which is a citizens only border crossing point. Foreigners have to transit the border at Moc Bai where there are proper immigration facilities including on-line computer links. The track from Tinh Bien passes through a few small villages before reaching Ha Tien. This journey is NOT for travel outside daylight hours.

Water
Local boats (crowded) ply the canals linking Chau Doc and Ha Tien daily with a trip time of some 10 hours for the 95 kilometre journey. It is an interesting way of meeting the local people, whose interest in you is likely greater. Pack food! The cargo/ferry boat departs at 04.00H, arriving around 17.00H, traffic determined. Foreigner charges are USD$5.00.
