Description:

Nghe An Province is a large province in the northern central part of ViętNam linking the North and South. Nghe An Province is bordered on the north by Thanh Hoa; on the south by Ha Tinh; on the east by South China Sea coastline 82 kilometres in length; on the west by the international border with Laos 419 kilometres in length.

The City of Vinh demonstrates Russian architecture of the Stalin era - drab and depressing. One visitor described Vinh as 'The most depressing place he had ever seen'. Another, referring to the pollution, 'Smells like VietNams industrial armpit'.

Nghe An’s topography is rather complex and its climate severe, with a lot of storms and strong winds blowing from South to West.

Nghe An Province offers several historical sites such as the native land of President Ho Chi Minh and poet Nguyen Du. Others include Ben Thuy Wharf; Con Temple (Quynh Luu); Cuong Temple (Dien Chau); Hoang Son Temple (Nam Dan); Hong Son Temple (Vinh); Kim Lien relic (Nam Dinh); Mai Hac De Temple (Nam Dan); Phuong Hoang Trung Do - Nui Quyet (Vinh).

Thanh Dam Festival, Quynh Festival.

Transport:

Vinh is 292 kilometres south of Ha Noi; 139 kilometres south of Thanh Hoa; 16 kilometres south of Cua Lo Beach; 197 kilometres north of Dong Hoi; 368 kilometres north of Hue; 468 kilometres north of Da Nang; 14 kilometres east of Kim Lien village. It has air, rail and road services.

Vinh Airport (VII) is just to the north of the city adjacent to National Highway 1.

Vinh Railway Station, Tel: +84-(0)-38-824-924, is 1 kilometre west of Phan Boi Chau Street @ Le Loi. Express services with Ha Noi 7 hours distant and Ho Chi Minh City is 34 hours away.

Road
The Bus Station is on Le Loi Street with Express services for Ha Noi (10 hours), Buon Ma Thuot, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang every day starting at 05.00H.
