Ethnic data: Viet/Kinh, Dao, Hoa, H'mong, Muong, Nung, Tay, Thai with others making 23 ethnic communities, among which the Kinh account for more than 98%.

Description:

Ninh Binh is located to the south of the Northern Delta, between the Red and Ma rivers. It is bordered by Hoa Binh and Nam Dinh to the north, Ha Nam to northeast, Thanh Hoa to the south and west.
 

Ninh Binh also has a very short coastline abutting the Gulf of Tonkin.

Economy:
Limestone, marine resources.

Natural beauty sights:
Bich Dong; Cuc Phuong primitive forest and ancient people’s cave (Nho Quan); Dich Long cave and pagoda (Gia Thanh - Gia Vien).

Ecological sights:
Cuc Phuong National Park (1).

Historic sights:
Bich Dong pagoda and cave (3); Can Linh Pagoda; Banh Long Pagoda; Dinh and Le Temples; Hoa Lu ancient capital (2); Hoa Lu Citadel; Nhat Tu Pagoda; Phat Dien stone church (Phat Diem - Kim Son) (4). The old city of Ninh Binh is one of many famous historical sites in ViętNam.

Thai Vi festival (Ninh Hai - Hoa Lu)(third moon of the lunar calendar); Truong Yen Festival, Yen Cu Festival.

Embroidered handicrafts in Hoa Lu District.

Transport:

Ninh Binh is 91 kilometres from Ha Noi and has both rail and road transport links.

Express rail connections with Ha Noi in the north and Thanh Hoa and Vinh in the south.

Buses from Ha Noi’s South Bus Station stop by Ninh Binh; the bus routes parallel and compliment the rail route.
