Our VietNam site |
Thank you for visiting WomPom's VietNam; we hope you will have as much enjoyment learning
about the country as we have had putting this web site together. |
WomPom.ca presents VietNam - a very special destination. |
No one who visits VietNam ever leaves unchanged. Be it the people, the natural beauty or
some quality brought from out of you - VietNam will always be a lasting memory. A very special memory. |
Few countries conjure up images, emotions and memories that profoundly affect an entire
generation of Foreigners - the word that is used, in a pleasant way, to describe all who are not Vietnamese. For many
of us, however, VietNam does exactly that. Travelling to VietNam was impossible for more than 20 years for many western
citizens following the conclusion of the American War in VietNam. |
Your preconceived ideas about VietNam are probably wrong - discard them. They are likely as
a result of governmental 'spin' or misinformation or from some other ulterior motive. |
This web site is the story - to date - of knowledge gained and experiences lived following
numerous trips into and around VietNam over a period of 10 years. Of journeys by land, boat and air; in luxury and in
ground hugging fashion. We know VietNam, we live in VietNam. |
We invite you to explore our web site, first, and then to explore the country. |
This web site will tell you how, the preferred routings, the details that a Traveller needs
when exploring a destination for the first time. You should also take late version travel guides with you - we're good
but you will want a handy reference! |
Web site particulars |
This web site is optimised for the Opera browser primarily, we also accommodate Netscape
Version 4 and later. As for the other browsers, you can be the judge. |
There are few pictures. This is deliberate; this web site is designed for fast access using
many technologies - some of which do not support pictorial graphics. |
If you want pictures you should use
Google
or better still, go to your local library and read the guide books. If you find a good one,
buy it. It is our experience that some are good, many are outdated and not one alone will suffice. |
Our web site |
There are links on the pages that will take you to our story, but
understand we are prejudiced - for VietNam and things Vietnamese. |
There are still large numbers of Vietnamese expatriates dotted around the
world who understandably harbour a great dislike for the present regime. We do not wish to take sides. |
We do not agree with many of the things the government does nor many of its
policies, but it is the government and it is doing a pretty good job, given the deplorable conditions that the
French and Americans left the place in following their respective invasions. |
A final word of caution - once you have visited VietNam, you might want to
come back, again and again - we did and, as we said, now we live here! |
