Question I'm a teacher and am travelling to VietNam and wanted to know what small gifts I could
take for young children there. I will be visiting the hill tribes and I feel this is where the gifts will be
appreciated. Any suggestions? Response 1 Local dental facilities are not great so candies/sweets
and soft drinks should be avoided. More useful presents would be books, paper, pencils. Rather than donating to
individual children, gifts to a school would be better as the teachers are better able to control distribution. No
religious material should be given, however, as this might cause problems for you and/or the recipients.
Response 2 Please give books, paper, texts, pens to schools or provide a donation to a charity that works
with homeless children.
