The Viet Nam Airport Complex under the Civil Aviation Administration of Viet Nam (CAAV) has announced that Da
Lat's Lien Khuong Airport, located in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, is to be upgraded and built into an
international facility, with construction beginning on 2003SEP02. The airport, in Duc Trong District-about
30km south of Da Lat, will service international flights to Japan, Singapore and Thailand, apart from domestic flights
to and from Ha Noi, Da Nang and HCM City. The airport will have its runway extended to 3,500m to accommodate
larger aircraft like the Airbus A320 in landing and taking off. The CAAV is to invest VND345 billion (US$23 million) in
the upgrade of the airport which is expected to be completed in 2005. VNECONOMY 2003SEP01
